New York City, Boston and … West Palm Beach?
When it comes to farmer’s markets, West Palm Beach’s weekly event stacks up with markets across the country, according to USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
A panel of food and travel experts named the top 20 farmer’s markets in the U.S. Now they’re asking readers to weigh in and narrow down the list.
And it’s not the first time West Palm Beach’s GreenMarket was spotlighted. Cooking Light magazine named the market the best in Florida in 2015. The honor was included in the magazine’s published list of “America’s 50 Best Farmer’s Markets.”
Mary Pinak, the community events manager for the City of West Palm Beach, called the nomination exciting, though she said it wasn’t something the city solicited.
“We found out from an email that we were part of the party,” she said.

West Palm Beach’s market was the only one in Florida to make the cut. Even among the variety of markets chosen, Pinak said the city’s event has features that make it stand out.
It’s “all the ‘V’s,” she said.
Venue. Vista. Vendors. And visitors.
“Look at the Intracoastal vista that we have and the breeze,” she said.
As for what people can find at the market, Pinak said the city is diligent about making sure they have top-quality vendors with an assortment of products. (“Not 16 pickle vendors,” she joked.)
