Nuveen Asset Management has hired Citywire + rated portfolio manager Karen Hiatt away from Allianz GI.
On June 11 Hiatt will join Terrance Kontos on the $6.8bn TIAA-CREF Large-Cap Growth fund, as well as two variable annuity funds: the $173m TIAA-CREF Life Growth Equity fund and the $37.8bn CREF Growth account, according to a Nuveen spokesperson.
Combined, those three funds have roughly $45bn in assets under management.
Hiatt will be based in San Francisco, reporting to David Chalupnik, Nuveen’s head of US portfolio managers.
Separately, Claire Ross has been added as a named manager on the $147m Nuveen Equity Long/Short fund as of June 1. Ross is based in New York City and also serves as head of US active equity research.
AllianceBernstein PM exits
An AllianceBernstein portfolio manager is leaving the firm in August, coming off the $1bn AB Multi-Manager Alternative fund as a result.
According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Brian Briskin has replaced Stuart Davies, joining Vikas Kapoor on the fund.
‘Stuart Davies, co-head of the custom alternative solutions team, will be leaving the firm in August 2021 to pursue a client facing role at a hedge fund firm. Vikas Kapoor, currently the co-head of the group, will lead the custom alternatives solution (CAS) team moving forward,’ said a spokeswoman for the firm.
