7-Eleven’s birthday freebie is coming back.
For the second year in a row, the free Slurpee giveaway won’t be a one-day deal but rather a monthlong offer redeemable in July for members of the chain’s 7Rewards loyalty program.
America’s largest convenience store chain said in a news release that it is spreading out its 94th “birthday celebration to avoid having millions of Americans crowded around Slurpee machines on a single day.”
It did the same last summer during the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce crowds on July 11 or 7/11, which also is known as 7-Eleven Day or Free Slurpee Day.

The annual birthday tradition began in 2002 for 7-Eleven’s 75th birthday, and continued in the same fashion until 2020, marking the company’s busiest day of the year with millions of visitors cashing in to get a free brain freeze.
7-Eleven will drop coupons for free small Slurpee drinks into the accounts of new and existing 7Rewards loyalty members on July 1. New members, who join in July at 7-eleven.com/7rewards or through the app, will also receive the mobile coupon that expires July 31.
There’s a limit of one free Slurpee per member, available at participating U.S. locations while supplies last. Hawaii locations are excluded.
