The Government of Barbados is calling on the United States of America to “show leadership” and end the decades-long embargo on Caribbean neighbor Cuba.
In a statement issued via Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Jerome Walcott, Government contended it had done nothing to isolate Cuba from the rest of the world,but “unleashed a series of painful outcomes for its people”.
There have been protests in Cuba and other places in the world where Cuban national reside, calling on their Government for more help.

On Sunday July 11, 2021, a series of street protests took place in Havana and several other Provinces in the Republic of Cuba.
Media coverage showed Cuban nationals calling on their Government for greater help and response to their needs, given the increasingly difficult socio-economic circumstances being experienced by our sister Caribbean island. These difficulties have been exacerbated by the long-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The long-standing Embargo foisted on the people of Cuba over six decades ago by the Government of United States needs to end.
