LOS ANGELES — The Americans won Game 2 of the 2023-24 Rivalry Series, 5-2, against Team Canada Saturday at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The U.S. has won the first two games of the series.
Team USA opened the scoring late in the first period on a 5-on-3 opportunity. Abby Roque (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) shot the puck from one side of the ice and the rebound popped over to Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.) who was waiting for a backdoor tap-in.
The Canadians tied things up early in the second period. Laura Stacey (Kleinburg, Ont.) took the puck on a shorthanded opportunity and shot it high past USA netminder, Nicole Hensley (Lakewood, Colo.). Shortly after, defender Erin Ambrose (Keswick, Ont.) slid awkwardly into the side boards and had to be helped off the ice and down the tunnel with what looked to be a lower-body injury. She was grimacing in pain and was not putting any weight on one leg. There is currently no update on her condition.
