In a recent address, External Affairs Minister (EAM), S Jaishankar, emphasized the nation’s significant strides in digital transactions. Speaking at an event in Rajasthan’s Bikaner, EAM noting that India processes transactions amounting to Rs 120 crores monthly, while United States’ does only worth Rs 40 crores in a year.
Jaishankar highlighted the effectiveness of democracy in India, countering skepticism from other nations. At a gathering in Bikaner, Rajasthan, he remarked, “With the advent of UPI for cashless payments, India’s monthly transaction volume has reached Rs 120 crores, surpassing the US’s annual figure. This progress is recognized and lauded globally.”
He pointed out that, unlike many countries where the electoral process is questioned, India’s elections are a testament to the smooth functioning of its democracy. “Democracy has proven its ability to deliver in India, contrary to the belief that it hinders development. The seamless voting process involving 100 crore people is a marvel to the world and a feat we should take pride in,” said the minister.
Earlier, Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a decisive shift in policy post the 2008 Mumbai attacks. “The era of major terrorist incidents is behind us.
