EUGENE, Ore. – The 2024 season boosted Eugene’s economy by $50 million that was generated by track and field and running events, according to TrackTown USA officials.
The local nonprofit organization said an influx of thousands of athletes, coaches, volunteers, officials, and fans provided a major boost local businesses and generated tax revenue for the local communities. Multiple entities gathered earlier this year with the Eugene Cascades and Coast Sports Commission to develop unified branding and to solidify community engagement ahead of the 2024 season and the roundtable recently reconvened to build on this year’s success into 2025, Tracktown USA officials said. Eugene Cascades and Coast Sports Commission officials said that Eugene’s designation as ‘Tracktown’ is a double-edged community benefit.
“TrackTown is a title that embodies community pride while creating meaningful opportunities to inspire people around the globe,” said JB Carney, senior director of sports with the Eugene, Cascades & Coast Sports Commission. “We couldn’t be prouder of how the community stepped up in 2024, and the excitement is already growing for an incredible 2025 season.”
