NIAGARA, Wis. — The Niagara School District has announced the top five scholars who led the 30 graduates in its Class of 2021.
They are:
— Nevada Brown, 18, will graduate first in her class. She is the daughter of Paula Vretenar and Mack Brown. She has one sibling, Noah Vretenar.
Brown is an honor student who participated in cheerleading and yearbook and was also a teacher’s aide.
Brown named teachers Ginger Anderson and Megan Lynch as her role models. “They have both pushed me towards a path that will lead to a great future,” she said. “Their tough love made me stand where I am today.”
Brown enjoys hiking, shopping and swimming. Her community service includes at the Niagara Senior Center and the high school concession stand. Her work experience includes Burger King as well as Kendra’s Helping Hands Cleaning Service.
Brown plans to pursue a degree in human resources this fall at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College-Marinette.
— Ty Colenso, 18, will graduate second in his class. He is the third child of Jason and Renae Colenso. His siblings are Tristin, Annalise and Aiden Colenso.
Colenso is an honor student who has participated in basketball, baseball, Hi-Q, Academic Bowl and Skills USA. He is the 2021 Forward Financial Credit Union Badger Boy and also placed second the Skills USA regional technical drafting competition.
Colenso named his parents as his role models because they have taught him life lessons.
