For a long time the world has dreamt of self-driving cars equipped with autonomous capabilities but in recent times this dream has come true as multiple companies in the US have rolled out self-driving cars. Waymo is one such company which operates self-driving cars in Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin Texas in the US.
In a recent social media post by Dirk Janssen, the Consul General of the Netherlands in San Francisco on X (formerly Twitter) it has come to light that the Prime Minister of Netherland, Mark Rutte recently rode a self-driving car from Waymo in Phoenix, US making him the first global leader to experience a self-driving car.
The self-driving car that the PM Mark Rutte used was a Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV. The Jaguar I-Pace SUV being used by Waymo is equipped with about 29 cameras and it uses a combination of cameras, Lidar, Radar and GPS for autonomous driving.
This was quite a bold move from PM Mark Rutte as he chose to experience this technology while it is quite new and questionable. There have been quite a handful of dreadful experiences involving self-driving cars in the US in the past few months. These…
