MAHWAH, N.J. (March 31, 2021) As of March 2021, Volvo Cars has earned more single year TOP SAFETY PICK PLUS (TSP+) awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) than any other automaker since the TSP+ honors began in 2013.
IIHS awards TSP+ awards to vehicles that provide the highest level of safety. Volvo Cars received nine TSP+ awards in February and added five additional models in this latest round of testing, totaling 14 awards for 2021.
The company’s focus on standard safety systems, including forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, combined with advanced pedestrian and cyclist collision prevention, sets Volvo Cars apart from others. Volvo Cars has made these systems standard on all vehicles for several years, while many competitors continue to offer some of these features as options.
“Volvo has been setting safety records for years,” said Anders Gustafsson, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA. “We’re proud to add this record to our history.”
