Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her vice presidential pick Tim Walz are embarking on a bus tour through western Pennsylvania today, one day ahead of the Democratic National Convention.
Joined by their spouses, Doug Emhoff and Gwen Walz, the Democratic running ticket embarked on the “On the Road to Chicago” tour, starting in Pittsburgh. They are meeting with prospective voters in the key swing state, hoping to pick up independent voters in the tradtionally-red area.
The bus tour arrives just one day after Donald Trump held his own rally in Wilkes-Barre, hoping to secure the state ahead of the November election. There, the former president spent most of his time attacking Harris and Democrats – highlighting their differences in economic policy.
The two campaigns are going head-to-head this week as the former president plans to hold a four-day event at his hotel in Chicago to draw attention away from the DNC. His Republican allies, like Byron Donalds and Rick Scott, are expected to attend those events.
