In 2024, the United States took home 86 total medals from international events in the four primary age categories (U17, U20, U23, and Senior). This is an improvement of 30 medals compared to last year (56).
Senior athletes came away with the most pieces of hardware (36); the largest haul on the age-group level belonged to the Cadets (U17). At the U17 Pan-Ams in June, Team USA dominated with seven champions, two runner-ups, and one bronze. In other words, the entire ten-man roster managed to make the podium.
For the US, the year was highlighted by performances from three World Championship events:
— Jayden Raney (55 kg, KY/IRTC) winning the U17 Worlds while his twin brother (and ’23 champ) Jordyn Raney (60 kg, KY/IRTC) grabbed bronze.
— Isaiah Cortez (55 kg, Daniel Cormier WC) and Otto Black (63 kg, CTT/Hawkeye WC) both earned silver at the U20 World Championships — and Aden Attao (130 kg, Beaver Dam RTC) stormed back in the face of injury to claim his second-career bronze from the tournament.
— Beka Melelashvili (82 kg, NYAC) provided to the US their first U23 World medalist when the native of Georgia powered to the finals in October.
