Mysuru: AeroJC, the Aeromodelling club of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), JSS Science and Technology University (JSS-STU), Mysuru, has a achieved a remarkable feat at the esteemed SAE Aero Design East competition held in Lakeland, Florida, USA from March 8, 2024 to 10.
SJCE represented India and the University in the Micro-class category.
The competition focused on applying aerodynamics and engineering sciences to practical challenges within set technical constraints. It saw participants designing and testing radio-controlled aircraft capable of safe take-off, landing and transporting payloads. The teams were evaluated on various parameters, including empty plane weight, take-off distance, oral presentation, design report and flying rounds.
The 7-member team that represented the university from AeroJC included Ammar Abid Lanker (Team Captain), Suraag Madhusudhan (General Secretary), Siddharth Ramesh (Analysis lead), Lochan Kuttappa (Design engineer), Eric Peter (Avionics and analysis engineer), Amogh Dudda (Design engineer) and Suryaswamy (Fabrication engineer) along with faculty members Prof Arun Y C and Prof Abhinandan M S from Mechanical Engineering Department.
Collaborating with leading engineering professionals from industry giants such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Ansys and Solidworks, they competed with prestigious universities like Georgia Tech, Wroclaw University, and Nanjing University.
