Global markets: US stocks were mixed on Wednesday as investors took a breather from a rally sparked by the rate cut hopes.
At 11:28 am ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 15.65 points, or 0.04%, at 37,573.57, the S&P 500 was up 2.53 points, or 0.05%, at 4,770.90, and the Nasdaq Composite was up 35.22 points, or 0.23%, at 15,038.45.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 37.79 points, or 0.10%, at the open to 37,520.13. The S&P 500 opened lower by 3.64 points, or 0.08%, at 4,764.73. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 29.86 points, or 0.20%, to 14,973.36 at the opening bell.
Before the opening bell, futures for the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones industrials each slipped about 0.2%.
Shares of FedEx tumbled 11% after it missed second quarter sales and profit forecasts.
Shares of Alphabet climbed 3.1% after a report said Google is planning to reorganise a big part of its 30,000 staff ad sales unit.
