Public support for a fourth stimulus payment remains active as many Americans are struggling financially as the delta variant continues to surge. However, the House and Senate are occupied with the $1 trillion infrastructure bill and the $3.5 trillion federal budget package, leaving another check off the list of things to be approved. But there’s still relief aid on the table this year and next, especially for parents.
The IRS is sending monthly cash payments to millions of families through the expanded child tax credit, with the next check going out Sept. 15. And based on the American Rescue Plan signed in March, a new child who counts as a qualifying dependent this year could be eligible for that third stimulus payment of up to $1,400, though the money won’t be available until after filing a tax return in 2022.
