With July 2024 fast approaching, there are are millions of Americans that could be set for some help from their local governments.
That help is only going to come if you are aware of it and apply for it in time. This is of particular interest to those living in Pennsylvania as there are tax rebates to be enjoyed in July.
Property tax and rent rebates in Pennsylvania
For those living in Pennsylvania, Governor Josh Shapiro has announced that some 442,000 people will soon begin receiving their property tax and rent rebates for taxes paid last year; nearly 80,000 of them are getting rebates for the first time.
“The Property Tax Rent Rebate program has long been a lifeline for Pennsylvanians – and in my first year, we expanded the PTRR program and passed the largest targeted tax cut for our seniors in nearly two decades,” Shapiro said at an event held at the Upper Darby Senior Center.
“This is a big deal for our seniors – and it’s proof that we can work together in a bipartisan manner to get stuff done.”
This program benefits Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, widows and widowers age 50 and older and people with disabilities age 18 and older.
As a result of changes made last year, homeowners and renters who fall into any of those categories with incomes of up to $8,000 are eligible for a $1,000 rebate; $8,001 to $15,000, a $770 rebate; $15,001 to $18,000, a $460 rebate; and $18,001 to $45,000, a $380…
