Santander Consumer USA plans to remain at 1601 Elm St., which holds the name of Santander Tower.
The Dallas-based auto lender will lease 211,087 square feet in the 50-story building owned by Pacific Elm Properties. Santander Consumer USA will keep its headquarters at the building and also retains the naming rights of the building.
Commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield’s Robbie Baty and Travis Boothe represented Santander Consumer USA in lease negotiations, while Sara Terry and Reegan Busby of Pacific Elm Properties worked on behalf of the landlord.
“Santander considered various options in the area and ultimately decided their current home at Santander Tower is the best place for their team’s long-term future,” said Baty, vice chairman and Dallas office tenant representation leader at Cushman & Wakefield.
Erik Laney, Santander Consumer USA’s chief financial officer, said the firm is a long-term tenant of downtown.
“We remain an active supporter of the local community and are excited to continue our work here,” he said.
Santander Tower was among the first downtown Dallas buildings to undergo an extensive conversion from pure office to a mixed-use product in 2017 and 2023.
