ROCKFORD, MI — If you’re looking for a bite to eat or some shopping just off US-131 near Rockford, you’ll soon have new options.
A multi-tenant retail construction project in Algoma Township just north of 10 Mile Road near the Rockford Meijer has begun, soon to host at least one restaurant.
The construction site, at 2887 10 Mile Road, is 1.7 acres and will have 69 parking spaces. All three spaces will be housed in the same retail building, split among the three tenants.
In total, the building will be just under 9,000 square feet with the smallest of the restaurants at 2,673 square feet and the largest at 3,602 square feet.
The new building is tucked in between a Sherwin Williams paint store and a Taco Bell, at the intersection of 10 Mile Road and Meadow Creek Drive.
According to Mike Schuchman, a partner at developer Alrig USA Commercial Real Estate, the building isn’t set to be finished until some time in 2023.
Faith Fruciano, a sales associate at Mid-America Real Estate, said the largest of the three spaces has a tenant in the works.
“Overall we’re very excited for the project,” Fruciano said. “At this time, we can’t disclose who that lease is for but we should be able to in the next 30 or 60 days.”
Fruciano said there is a proposed restaurant in one of the three retail spaces but the lease for that largest space is not food related.
Planning documents show none of the three spaces will have a drive-thru.
