Tony Khan broke the news that “Captain” Shawn Dean has officially joined the company. Shawn Dean is the latest wrestler who helped AEW out at the peak of COVID-19 to be rewarded with a contract after his hard work throughout 2020.

The AR Fox trainee debuted for AEW in march 2020 on AEW Dark against Shawn Spears. He wrestled 26 matches for AEW between Dark and Dynamite last year. Although he never won he persevered and kept at it. He has been paired off with a number of different partners including Lee Johnson, Fuego Del Sol, and most recently Carlie Bravo. Dean is still awaiting his first win but has proven to be an asset to AEW with his hard work.
AEW was Shawn Dean’s first real big break. After debuting in 2017 Dean mostly spent his time wrestling for World Wrestling Alliance, ACTION Wrestling, and other southern indies. He did get to wrestle for EVOLVE at EVOLVE 114 but he was never brought back to the company.
