Still have holiday shopping to do?
According to deal website RetailMeNot, 74% of consumers plan to do at least some last-minute shopping this holiday season and 57% are willing to wait until the last minute to buy gift cards. And 51% plan to shop the day after Christmas.
Catering to the true procrastinators, the majority of stores and malls across the nation are opening early Friday and will close by dinner time, with a few exceptions.
Ahead of Christmas Eve, however, you’ll find more stores opening early and staying open late. Through Thursday, Target and Kohl’s stores are open from 7 a.m. until midnight and then will have shorter hours Friday. For Christmas Eve grocery store hours, click here.

For the second holiday shopping season of the pandemic, retailers started rolling out deals early to spread out demand. This year, consumers were encouraged to also start early because of supply chain constraints.
But this year, stores might be busier than last Christmas Eve. Even though Christmas Eve is not a federal holiday, many businesses and federal offices will recognize it as a day off because Christmas falls on a Saturday. (Here is what is open on Christmas.)
