Season 13 of American Ninja Warrior saw many changes to the show from last season. In some ways, it was getting back to normal after a modified 2020 season due to COVID-19 restrictions. Season 13 also had one completely new part: lowering the age limit from 19 down to 15. While fans embraced the first age limit change in 2018 from 21 down to 19, they have not reacted well to this new lower limit.
The new season also introduced a new type of obstacle called Split Decision. For the first time ever, ninjas get to pick from one of two obstacles to attempt. During the qualifiers, it’s a choice between the Spinning Log or Domino Effect. While both are balance obstacles, ninjas have to decide which one they think they would be better at and hope that they don’t end up second-guessing themselves or regretting the decision. Some American Ninja Warrior ninjas were intrigued by the chance to choose, while others were nervous.
