The Buffalo Sabres play their final game of the 2021 NHL season this afternoon against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pennsylvania. The Sabres are coming off a brutal 8-4 loss to the Penguins on Thursday night. This was by far Michael Houser‘s worse start of his three that he has made for Buffalo.
With the Sabres solidifying their spot at the very bottom of the NHL in points once again this season, they really do not have much to play for besides pride. But that has what it has felt like for most of the season. Buffalo will once again enter the offseason with some good odds when the draft lottery rolls around.
But if Buffalo can finish out the season winning three of their last four games, that could be a sign of good things to come. They have gotten excellent performances out of their younger prospects this season. They have seen many players improve throughout the year, and they have found a quality potential head coaching candidate in Don Granato.
This offseason is going to be filled with massive decisions for GM Kevyn Adams. If the right moves are made, maybe we can see the Sabres able to compete next year. I think all of the playing…
