WELLSVILLE — School board members decided to trust the instincts of their superintendent Richard Bereschik, who was gambling that a food service consulting firm could turn around the district’s struggling meal program. However, the decision was far from unanimous.
During Wellsville school district’s 90-minute regular meeting, members entered a contract with the Nutrition Group to manage the district’s program, after asking for companies to submit proposals on instituting a program following the Ohio Department of Education Nutrition Division’s guidelines. Board members Gary Althiser, John Morrow and Rick Salsberry voted in favor of the measure, while colleagues Chris Amato and Austin Dalrymple abstained, resulting in passage.
The latest Columbiana County district to contract with the Nutrition Group, Bereschik cited that he believes East Liverpool is the lone holdout.
