The Vermont Community Foundation has hired Molly Walsh as a Research and Insight Officer.
Molly joins the Community Foundation after more than thirty years covering Vermont as a newspaper reporter, spending the majority of that time at The Burlington Free Press, and most recently working for five years at the weekly newspaper Seven Days. Her byline has appeared on news stories about affordable housing, childcare, water quality, climate change, racial justice, education equity, land use, and scores of other issues impacting the state. She began her writing career at the Snowmass Village Sun in Colorado and worked as a researcher at USA TODAY in Washington D.C., before moving to Vermont. She is co-author of the book, “Vermont Country Roads.”
“I am honored to join the Vermont Community Foundation and bring my research and writing skills to an organization that is committed to making the state better for all,” says Walsh. “In my work as a journalist, I traveled Vermont north to south and learned so much from the people I interviewed. I came to believe that Vermont could advance solutions to difficult problems if we research and communicate them so the public has a fuller understanding of the role they can play. I’m thrilled to continue telling the stories of Vermonters at an organization committed to the public good here in our beautiful state.”
