San Antonio is getting more health care jobs with a boost from a state grant.
QTC Management, which conducts medical and disability exams, received $849,000 from the state through the Texas Enterprise Fund to establish an operational service center in San Antonio, according to Gov. Greg Abbott.
The grant also includes financial incentives for the company to hire military veterans, according to Abbott. QTC will be eligible for an additional $1,000 per job filled by a veteran during the first year of job creation.
The project is expected to generate 252 jobs and more than $3 million in capital investment.
QTC, a subsidiary of Leidos Holdings, provides disability and occupational health examination services in all 50 states for veterans, federal employees and the commercial industry. Two weeks ago, QTC was awarded a $110 million contract to provide fitness for duty medical exams for FBI employees and career applicants.
CEO Larry Schaefer said the company is excited to expand its operational services in San Antonio. More than 1,700 experienced clinical, corporate and operational associates are employed at 90 clinics nationwide to provide employment-focused medical exams and diagnostic testing services. Additionally, Schaefer emphasized, the company works with 12,000 physicians and health care professionals.
