After withdrawing from all other finals, Simone Biles competed in the balance beam final at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday. Not only did she compete, but the star gymnast made the podium, taking home the bronze for Team USA. This was Biles’ second medal of the games, after also winning silver in the team competition. She now ties with Shannon Miller as the most decorated US Olympic gymnast in history.
Considered the greatest gymnast of all time, Biles surprised the world last week when she withdrew from the women’s team all-around final, citing mental health concerns. She later pulled out of the individual all-around finals and then the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise finals too.

Teammate Sunisa Lee stepped in to take the gold medal in the all-around competition, while another member of the US team, Jade Carey, won the gold medal in the floor exercise.
