Weekend of July 31 – August 1
Now that California has reopened, so many events are coming back and others never got the chance to get started — until now.
Nihonmachi Street Fair organizers were crushed last year when they were forced to cancel the annual festival. But it’s back now with new pop-up events like Aloha by the Bay this Saturday at Peace Plaza.
Aloha by the Bay “is going to feature a lot of great Hawaiian musicians as well as Hlau, Hawaiian dancing groups, that will come out to Japantown and entertain the crowd,” Grace Horikiri, Nihonmachi Street Fair Executive Director, told ABC7’s Jobina Fortson. “The spirit of aloha is really to share and to embrace to engage with everyone around you. I think hopefully when everyone comes to Japantown this weekend, not only will they sponge in all the love that we’re spreading out from the stage, but also continue that love and support our small businesses.”
It’s free – and isn’t that the best kind of fun?
In the North Bay, the Sonoma County Fair will be underway at the same time. If you’re really bold you could go to both in the same day! But for those of you who keep it simple, the Sonoma County fair will feature rides, your classic fair food and a lot of fun.
Oh and speaking of food!…
