Whereas some parents are natural worriers and keep a closer eye on their children, others prefer a laid back approach and let their kids make their own mistakes.
But one mum in the USA has made waves among parenting circles for giving her kids lots of independence – to the point where some have slammed her “lazy” techniques.
Amanda Melrose, 41, who runs a vlog on YouTube, has three children: daughter Peyton, six, and 18-month-old twins Willa and Trey.
Amanda uses her YouTube channel, ‘I’m a Lazy Mom and I’m not Ashamed’ to explain why she adopts a “hands off” approach to parenting and lets her kids do whatever they want.
She also shares her insights on her blog, Twenty Tiny Toes – where she writes: “lazy parenting isn’t necessarily a bad thing.”
The stay-at-home mum believes so-called ‘lazy’ parenting encourages her kids to think more freely and learn how to be independent.
In her various outlets, Amanda explains how Peyton helps her out with chores around the house.
Her reasoning? The mum admits: “[I’m] just too lazy to do it all myself.”
