Former US Anglo-American advisor and senior fellow of the Bow Group think tank Lee Cohen told Express.co.uk that despite the perception Americans are pro-therapy and enjoy talking about their feelings, he warned many “cringe” when either Prince Harry or Meghan Markle attack the Royal Family. He explained while the Sussexes may be “beyond redemption” in the UK, American audiences were beginning to turn their backs on the couple due to Prince Harry’s comments on the First Amendment and the recent Apple Plus documentary “The Me You Can’t See”. Mr Cohen pointed towards polls that suggest the “new age statements” from Harry and Meghan may resonate with younger audiences but generally apathetic Americans are turning their nose up at them.
Speaking to Express.co.uk. Mr Cohen was asked his thoughts on how the American public has taken to Prince Harry and Meghan’s comments against the Royal Family.
Mr Cohen was a strong critic of Harry wading in on the First Amendment where the royal called it “bonkers” during an interview with the Armchair Expert podcast.
He explained: “The American public is sort of unaware of what monarchy is all about and is easily taken in by a young, attractive and glamorous couple.
“Which is certainly what the Sussexes are.
“Certainly they resonate with younger people not only in the USA but also in Britain.
“Where opinion polls show higher popularity among a younger demographic.”
