
Telugu girl Sudiksha Konanki, a U-PIT pre-med student based in Virginia, went missing on March 6th in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, sending shockwaves through the Telugu community in the U.S.
Sadly, after nearly two weeks, her parents (father Subbarayudu Konanki) wrote to the authorities requesting that she be declared dead. They believe she drowned and that no foul play was involved. Briefly speaking on camera, they stated they have come to terms with the tragedy.

Despite almost two weeks passing, the police have made no progress. They have neither confirmed whether Sudiksha drowned nor if she was kidnapped.
As the mystery continues, her parents have urged authorities to declare her dead. Meanwhile, the person (Joshua Riibe) last seen with her remains in detention at the same hotel Riu República where she went missing. However, her parents have stated they do not suspect him and have requested his release so he can return to the United States.

This is one of the most tragic and horrifying incidents involving the Indian immigrant community in the U.S. The 20-year-old Sudiksha had traveled with four friends for a vacation. They reportedly partied in the hotel lobby until around 4 a.m., where they met two other men before heading to the beach. By 8 a.m., everyone returned—except Sudiksha Konanki.
