Two best friends from Venezuela, Kelly Mesa, 32, and Karina Rincon, 31, met when they were in school and remained inseparable until they graduated together and moved to the USA.
Their friendship was purely intimate and affectionate but not sexual when they met. But, when they moved to the USA after graduation, their feelings developed.
“Whenever I’d hear Kelly talking about boyfriends, I’d feel almost jealous and started to realise that it was because I had romantic feelings for her,” says Karina.
Karina explained that Kelly used to move around a lot until they both moved to Miami. “I was so nervous, as I had no idea how she would take it, but I had to tell her how I felt. Thankfully, she felt the same.”
Initially, Kelly and Karina kept their relationship a secret from family, but eventually came out in 2017 just before they got married.
At home artificial insemination
The pair started to look for options for creating their own family, but soon realised that IVF clinics and sperm banks are expensive. Kelly explains, “some of the clinics would want thousands and thousands to find the donor. There would be insemination costs, medication, doctor fees and many other costs.”
