Laura Dern wasn’t up for an Oscar Sunday night but the presenter created quite a buzz on Twitter.
The actress, who won best supporting actress Oscar at last year’s ceremony for “Marriage Story,” arrived at Los Angeles’ Union Station in an ornately feathered Oscar de la Renta frock, which contrasted its full skirt with a long-sleeved mock turtleneck top.
Twitter user @SuzyWrong raved the look was “so chic… I just love ostrich feathers.”
Dern’s dress gave former “Below Deck” personality Kate Chastain a mental boost. “Laura Dern’s #Oscars2021 dress made me feel seratonin levels I haven’t felt since 2019,” she wrote. “LOVE”
“Absolutely fascinated by Laura Dern’s skirt,” wrote @anita_magica. “I wanna pet it.”

Even naysayers admitted begrudging respect. “Laura dern looks like a feather duster but I love it,” tweeted @popped_a_holly.
The gown made @bymatthewk think of another star (albeit fictional) whose favorite season is awards. “Laura Dern showed up as Moira Rose,” the user posted, referring to the “Schitt’s Creek” character who loves a black and white palette.
