Not only do you want rooms to feel comfortable, but you also want them to look attractive and welcoming to any guest that steps through your door. With this in mind, here’s a look at three of the little things you can do to help decorate any room.
Arrangements that look good enough to eat
Many people choose flowers to decorate any room. The only problem is they only look at their best for a small amount of time. Often you find yourself waiting ages for them to bloom properly, only to find that they start wilting and dropping petals just a few days later. Once they’ve started shrivelling up and changing colour, it’s then a rush to dispose of them before they start making your room look even more untidy and unloved than before. Instead, there a number of alternative fresh items you can add to any room to help decorate it.
For example, Edible Arrangements are a great way of adding colour to any room and they also work as a great conversation starter. These are exactly how they sound, attractive arrangements of items you can actually eat. That means not only can you enjoy the look and the smell of your arrangements, but you can also enjoy the taste of them as well. The fact that they’re edible also means there won’t be any waste to throw in the bin. Simply eat the arrangements before they go bad and you won’t have the same problems of having to tidy up as and when flowers start to wilt.
Personalise those prints
Posters and prints are a great way to decorate any room. The only problem is that many of us end up choosing the same prints as everyone else. If you want a truly unique piece of artwork to hang in your room, why not try making one yourself. If you’ve taken a photo you love, get it printed out in a large poster-sized print or even on a canvas. If you have young children in your life, you could even persuade them to paint a truly unique piece using poster paints and a blank canvas that will make you think of them whenever you see it.
Let there be light
You might think there’s nothing alternative about lighting whatsoever. In fact, if you entered a room and there wasn’t a light dangling from the middle of the ceiling, you’d probably think that it was most bizarre. Instead, what we mean by lighting is special lights that you wouldn’t expect to find in a room. For example, consider installing LED strips on top of any shelves you have to help display anything you have on them even when you’re trying to create a darker, more relaxed atmosphere.
Consider buying strips where you can change the colour they glow, so you can quickly alter any space from a relaxing room to somewhere where everybody wants to have some fun. You could even buy things like disco lights and disco balls to help really transform any room into a nightclub dancefloor with the flick of a switch.
