With vaccinations rolling out and COVID-19 restrictions finally lifting in many places, hopefully, it won’t be too much longer before we can all gather together with our friends again. So if you’ve got a special occasion coming up – whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or baby shower – you might be thinking about throwing a party to celebrate. At the same time, it’s been so long since we’ve been able to have these events that you might have forgotten how to do it properly! Never fear, though – the following tips will help ensure that your next gathering is remembered for all the right reasons.
Pick a fun theme
One of the best ways to get people excited about your party is to pick a fun theme. This helps to make your gathering stand out as more than just friends hanging out as usual, plus gives your guests a way to get more involved. The theme can be absolutely anything – for example, a time period, a film, a book, a sport, or a fashion style. Whatever you choose, try and get as much mileage out of it as possible. Think about the music, the food, the drinks, and of course the decorations. If it’s a theme that can impact the dress code for your guests, even better!
Hire in some help
It’s no secret that hosting a party can be hard work, especially if you’re planning to invite a lot of people. To make it easier for yourself, why not consider hiring some external help? For example, you could bring in a catering company to provide the food, book a service like Event Bartenders to handle the drinks, or hire some cleaners for the aftermath. Even just enlisting the help of some friends can make a big difference. Plus, it gives you more time to spend with your guests and doing the fun jobs such as organizing the playlist!
Prep in advance
Whether or not you choose to hire in extra help, you’ll almost certainly be doing some of the party preparations yourself. In which case it’s a good idea to do as much as possible well in advance of the event. For example, get your shopping done early so that you don’t need to make a last-minute rush to the store and plan activities such as party games ahead of time. Other tasks to try and get done before the day include sorting out the music, getting the decorations ready, and even choosing your outfit.
Have fun!
It might sound obvious, but sometimes it’s easy to forget to have fun when you’re the host. Take the time to enjoy the food and drink, chat with your guests, and get involved with the games or other activities. Your friends will want to spend time with you too! So don’t feel like you have to be on your feet the whole evening running around after everyone else – following the above tips should help ensure there’s no need for this anyway. Just remember that if you’re relaxed and happy, your guests will be too!
