The second day of the PGA Championship started with off-course drama as world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler‘s day took an unexpected turn. He was detained, booked, and then released by local police after a traffic incident outside Valhalla Golf Club.
Scheffler, after a rescheduled tee time, improved with a 5-under-66 to move into the top five. Xander Schauffele remains atop the leaderboard after Friday’s action. He followed his record-tying 9-under-62 on Thursday with a 3-under-68 in Round 2 to stay in sole possession of first place at 12-under.
Collin Morikawa and Bryson DeChambeau had the best performances in Round 2, going 6-under to move into second and tied for fourth, respectively.
