The Clemson Tigers‘ 6-1 start to the 2025 college baseball season has Erik Bakich’s team on the rise in the Top 25 polls.
After sweeping all four games at this past weekend’s Clemson Baseball Invitational against VCU and North Carolina A&T, Clemson moved up two spots to No. 9 in Monday’s new USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll. It’s the first Coaches Poll update since the preseason rankings were unveiled on Feb. 3.
The two teams Clemson jumped ahead of were the Oregon State Beavers (5-2) and ACC rival Virginia Cavaliers. Virginia was ranked No. 2 in the preseason polls but fell nine spots to No. 11 after a 3-3 start.
The defending national champion Tennessee Volunteers moved into the top spot after their 7-0 start to the season, while Texas A&M (5-1) dropped one spot to No. 2. The LSU Tigers (6-1) stayed at No. 3 with Arkansas (6-1) at No. 4 and Florida State (7-0) at No. 5. Clemson is ranked one spot below the No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs and one spot ahead of No. 10 Oregon State.
Outside the rankings, South Carolina received the third-most votes (51) for Top 25 consideration in Monday’s Coaches Poll (51). Clemson and South Carolina (8-0) will meet this weekend for their annual three-game, cross-state series.
The Tigers also rose in Baseball America’s new Top 25 rankings on Monday, moving up one spot to No. 7.
