It might be called the ‘Indian Premier League’ but the franchise-based T20 competition attracts eyeballs from all over the globe. While the most number of fans remain in India, IPL is known to generate plenty of traction from countries like USA, UK, Australia, and many other countries from across the world.
The season kicks off with the opening fixture between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and last year’s finalists Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Both the franchises have had a big reshuffle in their squads. Both CSK and KKR will also be led by new captains – Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer.
A number of other franchises like Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, have also appointed new captains ahead of the 15th edition of the league. The biggest change, however, is the addition of two new franchises – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans. With the IPL now a 10-team tournament, there’s certainly huge excitement in the air.
