Ahead of the 2022 World Cup, Japan hosts Brazil in Tokyo for a summer tuneup.
Both teams are coming off recent friendly victories, with Japan topping Paraguay 4-1, while Brazil dominated another Asian nation in South Korea by a 5-1. Neither side trailed in their respective victories, although Brazil was pegged back to 1-1 after going 1-0 up, eventually pulling away thanks to a pair of Neymar penalties.
Japan have never beaten Brazil in 12 total meetings, with two draws and 10 defeats. Japan last secured a result against Brazil in the 2005 Confederations Cup, procuring a 2-2 draw. Since, the Asian nation has fallen in five straight matchups against Brazil by a combined 18-2 scoreline. Three of those five defeats have come in international friendlies.
Brazil has gone 12 matches unbeaten since the Copa America final defeat to Argentina last summer.
