Chris O’Connell stormed back to take the second set against World No.70 Maxime Cressy in a thrilling back-and-forth contest but now the American has hit back.
O’Connell made a strong start with the pro-Australian crowd behind him before Cressy surged to take the first set 6-2.
The Australian left the court with what appeared to be a hip issue late in the set.
“This was the first time he pulled up and we saw his hand on his hip and he called for the trainer straight away,” Sam Groth said in commentary for Channel Nine.
