Alabama head football coach Nick Saban is retiring and heading to Florida.
After 17 seasons and six national championships with the Crimson Tide and a coaching career spanning 50 years, including a stint with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, Saban, 72, called it quits Wednesday.
The legendary coach’s announcement sent fans to his statue at Bryant-Denny Stadium, leaving offerings like oatmeal cream pie cookies, pom-poms and a balloon reading “Get Well Soon.”
But Saban is still alive and well, and possibly looking forward to golfing near the Florida home he bought last year.
