The Green Bay Packers are about to take on the Chicago Bears in their biggest matchup of the season. A win in Week 18 means the Packers will make the post-season for the first time since 2021. The Chicago Bears would love to play spoiler just like the Detroit Lions did in 2022.
Today, the Packers made a bit of a surprising move.
The Green Bay Packers Release Former Super Bowl Champion Prior To Chicago Bears Matchup
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the Packers have released cornerback David Long Jr.
With the Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, and Carolina Panthers, Long has 96 career tackles, eight passes defensed, and one interception.
On Feb. 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium, he was one of LA’s five starting defensive backs as the team defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in the Super Bowl.
In 50 defensive snaps, Long recorded four tackles, all in the first half. His interception return for a 3-yard touchdown in the Rams’ 34-11 win over Arizona during that postseason run was one of the highlights of his career.
Long has 12 tackles (one for loss) and a pick-six against Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray in six career playoff games.
