WASHINGTON — U.S. Capitol Police Officer William ‘Billy’ Evans died Friday after the deadly barrier ramming outside the U.S. Capitol.
Evans community, friends and the police department he served have spent the hours following his death mourning the man who spent 18-years serving the U.S. Capitol Police.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I announce one of our officers has succumbed to his injuries,” Acting U.S. Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman said in a statement. “This has been a very difficult time for the Capitol Police department. I ask that you keep our U.S. Capitol Police family in your prayers.”
A close friend of Evans said he was a great guy with a great sense of humor and who first and foremost loved his kids.
