3.2 quake 29 mi north of Valdez, Alaska, USA, 6 Mar 2021 5:07 pm (GMT -9)
The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.2 quake in the United States near Valdez, Valdez-Cordova County, Alaska, only 7 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Saturday 6 March 2021 at 5:07 pm local time at a shallow depth of 12 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.2 earthquake as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Valdez (pop. 3,900, 29 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
