Just 8 minutes ago, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Ukiah, Mendocino County, California, USA. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Sunday 7 March 2021 at 8:03 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 3.5 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.0 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Willits (pop. 4,900) located 7 miles from the epicenter, Redwood Valley (pop. 1,700) 7 miles away, Brooktrails (pop. 3,200) 9 miles away, Ukiah (pop. 15,900) 15 miles away, and Talmage (pop. 1,100) 16 miles away. In Upper Lake (pop. 1,100, 23 miles away), and Clearlake (pop. 15,200, 43 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
