3.1 quake 6 Mar 12:00 am (GMT -9)
A magnitude 3.1 earthquake near Pedro Bay, Lake and Peninsula County, Alaska, USA, was reported only 9 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate depth of 72 miles beneath the epicenter after midnight on Saturday 6 March 2021 at 12:00 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.1 as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Pedro Bay (pop. 42, 38 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
If you felt it, report it through our site or app right now!
