The live industry across the world suffered an enormous loss with the passing of Australian concert promotions giant and label head, Michael Gudinski, who was just 68 years old.
For over five decades, the legend in his own time promoted countless shows with his Frontier Touring by some of the greatest artists of all time, released so much great music on his Mushroom label and, despite partaking in the cutthroat concert business was a beloved and lifelong friend of many.

If the measure of a person is the company they keep, especially in a hard-nosed business where few are looking for friends or company, Gudinski was a giant. Superstars and industry figures like Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Ed Sheehan, Kylie Minogue, Bill Joel, Jimmy Barnes, the Foo Fighters and Sting as well as Irving Azoff, Stuart Ross, Zane Lowe and others have shared their heartfelt condolences – Gudinski’s influence was more than just as a concert promoter or music industry boss.
