MASS FOOD DISTRIBUTION: Boxes of free groceries will be available at the Martin Luther Kings Apartments in Troy on Saturday morning. Any individuals or families in need are welcome to walk up or drive through and collect free food. The 600 boxes will include milk, eggs, meat, and other food items. Anyone who needs is welcome to drive through, walk up, and get some groceries. Following the food drive, community advocate and organizer Steven Figueroa will also distribute food at 10th street Park Earth Day Event in Troy starting at noon. Volunteers are needed Friday morning at 9 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church at 2165 Fifth Avenue to help load food into a delivery truck. To volunteer or donate to the efforts, contact Figueroa at (518) 285-9622. The distribution event will take place Saturday, April 24 at 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Martin Luther King’s Apartments 1 Eddys Lane Troy, NY 12180 (In Front of Main Office). Masks and social distancing are required. The event is sponsored by Team H.E.R.O. and The Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area. The food was donated by Billy Carter of Kingdom Ministries in Troy.
