If you make $50,000 a year — Fayetteville may be your destination city.
So says website GOBankingrates.com, which just released its list of “The Best Places to live on a $50,000 salary in Every State.”
The site picked one city in each state that is attractive to $50K earners because the cities have “a cost of living that will allow them to save for the future as well as cover costs in the present.”
The study looked at towns with at least 5,000 households and drew cost-of-living figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“Every state in the U.S. has options on where you can live on less than $50,000,” said GOBankingRates, a personal finance site.
In the Old North State, that city is Fayetteville.

Here goes a list I can get behind. Honestly, we could use the good pub right now on the heels of a survey that showed Fayetteville in the top 10 for syphilis infections.
By the way, I see lots of these surveys, rankings, polls and Best and Worst what-have-yous in my job. Among multiple lists in 2020, Fayetteville was picked as worst place for jobs by WalletHub and one of the best for clean air by the American Lung Association.
