To honor the histories and influences of the Latino communities across Pasadena, the city will hold its 25th Annual Latino Heritage Parade and Festival. The parade will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, starting at the intersection of Los Robles Avenue and Buckeye Street and culminating in front of city hall.
With the theme “Reaching for the Stars,” Recreation and Community Services Superintendent Pamela Cantero-More said that the mission of the parade and the festival that follows is to celebrate and educate.
“We want to make sure that we have an event that, when you come into the festival area, it brings unity, awareness and vibrant colors, so one of the things that you will see upon arriving to city hall is all of the Latin American countries’ flags represented,” she explained. “Our No. 1 mission is to promote and provide cultural, educational programs that highlight the Latino communities, including the 20 different countries typically celebrated during this time.”
More than 2,000 participants and spectators are expected to attend the parade and the ensuing festival at city hall, which will feature educational booths, free activities for children, food available for purchase and live entertainment, including performances from Los Jornaleros del Norte, Nueva Dimension and Banda Las Angelinas.
