Otis Williams recalled the start of The Temptations, which later became one of the most legendary groups of music and entertainment.
“We were teenagers when we signed to Motown in 1961,” group founder Dr. Otis Williams told Black Press.
“Now, 60 years later, I look back and thank God first, then [Motown Founder] “Berry Gordy signed us,” said Icon.
To celebrate the Temptations’ 60th anniversary, Motown / UMe has announced a kick-off for this year’s tribute, one of the most respected and prolific music institutions in history.
The campaign, which will continue until June 2022, will feature national and international concert tours, new anniversary CDs, video series and other festive events.
With the removal of COVID-19 restrictions by health officials, the celebration will also include the October reopening of the Broadway musical “Ain’t To Proud: The Temptations’ Life and Age,” based on Williams’ journey.
“Motown taught us and all of our artists about show business. It was a special place and a special time,” Williams said.
“We are delighted to be here to pay tribute to all of Temptation’s brothers, especially Melvin, Paul, Eddie and David. Our lineup puts us on a map of the world. I miss them all. “
